The KidZooU site is designed to carefully manage where the rain goes so that is doesn’t just end up down the drain. The water stays in the Zoo and is soaked up by the plants in several rain gardens. The Zoo also collects rain off of the building roofs and stored in an underground system called a cistern. Then that water is used for flushing the toilets in the indoor and outdoor restrooms! You can collect rainwater at home by planting native plants in your backyard or using a rain barrel!
